What is a contraindication?

There are times when a massage would not be suitable and is important to know if you are safe to have a treatment before you book. We recommend that you read through the list below and contact us if you have any of the conditions listed as we can provide further advice about how and when the safest time for a treatment can be offered. Please be aware that the conditions below are not exhaustive and if you have any concerns please speak to us.

Preparation for your appointment

Before booking your treatment please take a moment to read through the following conditions as you may not be able to be treated at this time or extra caution may be required if you are suffering with any of the following: 

 

  • Contagious infections

  • Cancer

  • Injuries including sprains, strains and fractures

  • Any inflammation (hot swollen and red areas)

  • Medical Conditions that may require GP advice including MS, Parkinson’s, Shingles, Stroke, Thrombosis, Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, Varicose veins, TB, Heart Conditions

  • Common illness including, flu, viral colds, fever

  • Undiagnosed lumps

  • Diabetes

  • Haemophilia

  • Circulation Problems (Diagnosed)

  • Lymphangitis

  • Recent or awaiting surgery

  • HIV/AIDS

  • Pregnancy first trimester (insurance reasons only)

  • Hypotension

  • Weakness in bones or fragile skin
